League of Women Voters of Wake County Welcomes New Officers & Board Members
RALEIGH, NC, May 28, 2019 – The League of Women Voters of Wake County voted in a new slate of officers at our annual meeting. Dianna Wynn becomes the new president as Marian Lewin steps down. New members of the LWV-Wake Board of Directors include Cheryl Tung as Development Director and Jenny Kotora-Lynch as the Communications Coordinator. Continuing Board members include treasurer Mary Jane Slipsky and secretary Sheila Denn. Marian Lewin remains on the Wake Board, will continue to serve as our Voter Services Director, and has been elected to the LWVNC Board as First Vice President. She is joined by LWV-Wake Board member Phyllis Demko also elected to the LWVNC Board.
Incoming President Dianna Wynn observes, “We have a strong Board of Directors that includes relatively new members with fresh perspectives as well as long-time League leaders who provide institutional knowledge and expertise. I am honored to work with such an awe-inspiring group of women and men.”
We wish to thank Marian Lewin for her five years as president. Under her guidance, LWV-Wake tripled its membership and developed a strategic plan that has left us well prepared to embrace that growth. In Marian’s words, “Our continued commitment to the core values of the League and to getting our membership engaged in our community positions us for further growth and influence.” Likewise we thank departing Board members Marlene Wilson and Pam Dowdy for their service.
