The Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant is just 20 miles southwest of Raleigh and has been operational since 1987… but have you ever been to tour its Energy & Environmental Center? Here’s your chance to do that and more! In addition to interactive exhibits that offer information about alternative and renewable energy, how nuclear plants work and the history of the Harris plant, we will also hear from an on-site engineer. He or she will introduce us to the simulator, which Duke Energy uses for their own mock training exercises.
After the tour, for those interested in joining for lunch, we will head straight down Hwy 1 and gather at Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen. Consistently ranked as one of Cary’s best restaurants, Lucky 32 is known for its changing menu of Southern dishes made with plenty of local ingredients.
(This event is for LWV-Wake members only)
