Much has happened since we established our Redistricting Committee almost three years ago. We implemented most of our planned activities in our strategic plan. We won a lawsuit in Wake County, but we lost another lawsuit at the US Supreme Court. Numerous redistricting reform bills have been introduced at the legislature. And Common Cause won their lawsuit resulting in the most recent redrawing of our voting maps. The result is that the landscape for redistricting reform in North Carolina has changed. It is time to celebrate what has been accomplished. But our work is not done! We will also be announcing some new projects for achieving redistricting reform before new maps are drawn in 2021. Come celebrate positive developments and hear about what we have planned.
This event is open to all LWV-Wake members. Those on the Redistricting Committee are particularly encouraged to attend. This is a great opportunity to learn about our redistricting work and meet other League members. For questions, contact Redistricting Committee co-chair Sheila Denn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
