Spring is a wonderful time to visit Historic Yates Mill Park. Meet at 1:30 at the Finley Center for Education & Research, the main building. A docent will orient the group and provide historical background. If you arrive early you can enjoy the exhibit hall that contains artifacts and interpretive panels on local history, agriculture and the environment. A short ¼ mile walk will take us to the last remaining water-power operated mill in Wake County for a tour and demonstration.
A $5 fee is charged that supports the nonprofit Yates Mill Associates for maintenance and operations of Historic Yates Mill.
Those who wish to socialize with fellow Leaguers may meet at the State Farmer's Market Restaurant at noon for a traditional southern lunch prior to the tour.
Contact Pat Butler at firstname.lastname@example.org for your tour and lunch reservations. There is a limit of 16 people permitted under the fee arrangement, so reserve your space on this field trip before it fills up!
