Topic: greenhouse gases (GHGs), recent GHG emissions reports completed by the City, and actions that individuals can take to reduce their emissions footprint.
Presenters: Cindy Holmes has worked in municipal government for over 20 years in North Carolina. She is currently Assistant Sustainability Manager for the City of Raleigh. In her current position she provides collaborative opportunities for sustainable operation improvements; engages community partners in developing and producing programs that meet customer needs and demands; and motivates sustainable behaviors through strategic incentives. Cindy manages the Climate/Energy Action Plan, the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories, the Renewable Energy Assessment and the Fuel and Fleet Transformation Plan. She also leads the community garden and urban agriculture program in Raleigh. Cindy also serves as staff liaison to the Environmental Advisory Board. Previously she worked in Public Utilities, Finance, and the Budget Office. Cindy received her MPA from UNC - Chapel Hill and a BA from Vanderbilt University.
Assisted by: Grace Levin is serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA member with the City of Raleigh’s Office of Sustainability, developing a program to increase participation in energy-efficiency programs throughout low-income communities. After completing a degree in sustainability from the University of Tennessee, Grace moved to North Carolina, worked for NCSU, and volunteered on local environmental campaigns.
