Come meet the new Superintendent of Wake County Public Schools, Dr. Robert P. Taylor. Attendees should bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy during this public event.
Before coming to Wake County last fall, Dr. Taylor served briefly as State Superintendent of Education in his home state of Mississippi and as Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of North Carolina. He supervised programs including NC Virtual School, Operations, and School Nutrition while working closely with the state Board of Education on mission, vision, policy development and program evaluation.
He was Superintendent of Bladen County (NC
) for nearly a decade and was named a Sandhills Superintendent of the Year for his work in 2017 and 2018. He was awarded the Friday Medal from NCSU’s Friday Institute in 2018. He has experience as a principal with Clinton City Schools, and as a classroom teacher in Cumberland County.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master’s Degree and Doctorate from Fayetteville State University.
