With 9 weeks until election day, we can make a difference together in educating and turning out voters in Wake County. Some opportunities are highlighted below, but not all. We are adding new events every week - check it out! Volunteer opportunities are open to all members; some are open to non-members as well. We need you and thank you!

Voters need smart, nonpartisan, dedicated people to work the polls. This is a great way to help fulfill our mission to ensure every eligible voter has a chance for their voice to be heard. (And you can earn a little cash.) Wake County is taking applications now for election officials - please consider applying!

National Voter Registration Day is September 15—Sign up and join us for Voter Registration on the Go!
We are mobilizing members for a powerful day of community engagement, and every League member can play a part through our individual Voter Registration On the Go! Campaign.
How It Works
Sign up to receive a Voter Registration Kit, then take civic action wherever your day takes you. As you visit your neighborhood, workplace, businesses, community spaces, or events, you get to engage Wake County residents and help them take the next step in democracy—whether by submitting a new voter-registration application or updating an address, name, or party affiliation.

How YOU can help:
Contacting Candidates. Members are needed to make follow-up contacts with candidates between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15 to encourage their participation in our online voter guide. You will be following up after the initial contact is already made.
Place VOTE411 signs at one or more early voting sites. Open for all - members and nonmembers.
Signs need to placed on Oct. 14 or 15 and taken down by end of day on Oct. 31. If the early voting site also serves as a polling place on election day, signs can stay in place until the end of the day on Nov. 3.
|  | | Join us for our first Timely Topics of the season. Now, more than ever, it is important to have a plan to vote. Join us as we talk through the important details and clarify the information that can be hard to understand. There will be time to meet and mingle before and after the presentations. Attendees are encouraged to bring a bag lunch and enjoy a variety of home-made treats provided by LWV-Wake members. This event is free and open to the public. Bring a friend!

Then join us at Neat & Sweet in Apex! We’ll gather from 4 until 6 pm, outside on the patio. Inside you can purchase a glass of wine or a cocktail along with charcuterie boards, snacks and desserts.

Saturday, October 3rd - Wake County Board of Commissioners Candidate Forum - IN PERSON
Please join us as we host the Wake County Board of Commissioners Candidate Forum with NAACP Raleigh-Apex, NCAAT, El Pueblo and Raleigh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. ABC 11's Michael Perchick will moderate.
The Board of Commissioners is growing from seven to nine commissioners. The Forum will include candidates for the two new At-Large positions and District 2 (other districts on the ballot this year are uncontested).
Find your Wake County District here. Remember, ALL Wake County voters have the chance to vote for the open at-large seats.
When: Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10-11:30 a.m.
Where: Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 Walnut Street, Cary NC
Light refreshments provided.
Volunteer Opportunities. We are in need of volunteers to hang flyers promoting the event in designated vicinities as well as event day coordination.

Virtual Forums. Virtual candidate forums will also be recorded to help inform voters about other contests on their ballots. All virtual forum recordings as well as the recording of the Wake County Board of Commissioners in-person event will be posted on the LWV-Wake YouTube page and VOTE411.org before early voting.

|  |  | Three Constitutional Amendments. Three Lasting Decisions.
This November, North Carolina voters will decide whether to add three amendments to our state Constitution—decisions that could have lasting consequences for voting, local government funding, and the state’s ability to raise revenue. The proposals address absentee voter photo ID, limits on local property tax revenue, and the state income tax rate cap.
LWVNC has taken positions against all three amendments and created a resource explaining what each would do, why the League is concerned, and what voters should know before casting their ballots.

| The League of Women Voter's Education Fund provides VOTE411 to give voters factual, nonpartisan information about candidates, ballot measures, voting options, and deadlines so they can make informed decisions with confidence. Locally, our volunteers help gather input from Wake County candidates.
