Phyllis Demko co-chairs LWV-Wake’s Timely Topics, Redistricting, and 100th Anniversary committees. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the League of Women Voters of North Carolina. After a career in university law, teaching, and human resources administration (UNCG, Penn and Drexel), Phyllis has devoted her time to learning new things and helping others learn. She became certified as a NC Environmental Educator and for several years taught school children about nature. She has served on the Program Committee for NC State’s Lifelong Learning program, and has taught several literature courses, including an exploration of law and justice through plays and novels. She is a weaver and is on the board of Triangle Weavers Guild, where she organizes workshops and classes. She also serves on the board of Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. She has a PhD in English and JD from UNC-Chapel Hill.
